Our Story
Asiapix Studios was established by Terry Duckham, a professional photographer, writer and editor, in the mid 80’s in Hong Kong and the Philippines. Terry had come to Hong Kong from Australia in 1979 on assignment for Cathay Pacific Airways in China and soon found himself working across the Southeast Asian region.
Today, Asiapix Studios is based Hong Kong and the Philippines, and specialises in photography, design, media and marketing for the travel and hospitality industries, with a focus in Internet marketing and website development in parentship with Philippine-based IT specialist MarB Concepts.
In the early 1990s an assignment with Continental Airlines introduced Terry to Guam and Micronesia and Asiapix Studios developed a strong client base there including the major National Tourism Offices, GVB, MVA and the FSM Tourism Bureau, and International hotel groups such as the Pacific Islands Club, Hyatt Hotels and Hilton Hotels.
At this time Asiapix Studios also partnered with Peter Wong & Associates, one of Hong Kong’s leading graphic design studios, to form the Rainbow Design Group with a core business focused on design, media and marketing for Greater China and Micronesia from the early 1990’s until 2006.
In the early 1980s Terry had established a working relationship with the Hong Kong publisher China Guides, latter Odyssey Books & Guides and Airphoto International (API. This relationship developed into a working partnership between Asiapix Studios and API in the early 2000s with Asiapix responsible for the design, production and translation of a series of International guidebooks, OB&M Illustrated Maps and corporate publications.
This work continues, with a short hiatus during the recent three-year global pandemic, and today Asiapix Studios’ creative team is made up of a network of industry professionals, including writers, graphic designers, photographers, cartographers, translators and IT and marketing specialists, based across the globe.
Asiapix Studios is owned and operated by Terry and his wife Aira, another experienced creative arts specialist, who manages the nuts and bolts of the business. He is a graduate of Sydney University, a Correspondent member of the Foreign Correspondents Club, Hong Kong and a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Professional Photographers.
